From Me
To You:
Greyhounds, one of the oldest breeds, have been found by man's side for nearly 4,000 years. Their significance in society can be traced from the walls of ancient Egyptian tombs, to Greek vases and tapestries throughout Europe. Despite their noble history, over 20,000 unwanted greyhounds are killed each year by the racing industry. Reasons why a greyhound may be killed are because they are too slow, have been injured, have no desire to race, or are too old( a good racers career is over by age five). The bottom line to the racing industry is profit. Racing Greyhounds are not considered living, feeling beings, but property that is easily disposed. Adopting a retired racer is making a fast friend for life! Greyhounds are loyal, gentile, loving dogs. Despite their need for speed, they are notorious couch potatoes. Please contact your local greyhound adoption organization and learn how you can make a difference in a greyhound's life!
