Ms. Nicole Rivera works toward educating and enlightening the public about the majestic pit bull breed. Ms. Rivera introduces her book Max,The Shelter Dog, a story of an energetic and playful pit bull surrendered to a shelter by his owners, as told from a dog's perspective. More information is available at www.maxtheshelterdog.com In the light of Atlanta Falcon's star quarterback Michael Vick's recent indictment on dog fighting charges, various organizations and the media have disseminated many misconceptions about pit bulls. The facts about the breed are quite different than the media perception. Pit bulls are, by nature, intelligent and eager to please their owners. This eagerness has been misused by unscrupulous owners to turn pit bulls into fighting dogs. Fact is, there are tons of well-mannered, loving pits in happy homes across the country, with terrific responsible owners. Unfortunately, the brunt of media coverage regarding pits is negative. If anything positive comes out of this Michael Vick horror, we hope that the masses are now more aware of the despicable cruelty toward this breed in the U.S., and that more animal lovers will rally for thorough investigations and harsher punishments to those involved in fighting rings. Little Pet Project, LLC is a Tampa-based Internet company specializing in sexy, provocative images of women with their pets. Their mission is to build a profitable brand featuring beautiful women and their pets; and in so doing, improve the lives of homeless animals by raising awareness to their plight. Pit Bull Facts Today, the pit bull is known to most as a fighting dog and that is the extent of their knowledge. But little has been discussed about the people pleasing, human loving, affection and goofy pit bull. The Pit bull that was so popular in the 1900's that they were the mascot for WWI and used on posters. The Pit bulls that serve as narcotic and bomb sniffing dogs, that are involved in search and rescue, that are involved in reading programs with children, and that as therapy dogs.
